from 68 unit history:
12 Sept 1968 - An Air Force C-123 accident at Vinh Long Airfield destroyed
one of the units O-1 aircraft, a five ton shop van and most of the equipment
belonging to first platoon. One of the units POL tankers was destroyed and two
enlisted men were injured. One additional aircraft was damaged.
from Ron Collins :
I heard that it landed on wet PSP runway and only one
prop went into reverse. When it went off the side of the runway it hit a fuel
truck, killing the pilot and copilot. It was cut up and removed while I was
there.
