  Fredericksburg is located in the Texas hill country (approximately
1 1/2 hour drive west of Austin, and 1 hour north of San Antonio).  The area consists of a 100-mile area of elevated terrain which gives it a marked contrast to the surrounding land in this part of Texas.   The area was settled in the 1800s by German immigrants and has a German flavor in what would otherwise be a cowboy farming environment.
