Remians of Rich Burnes Bird Dog.

I don't have a picture of the original crash site, but of the picture of the aircraft after it was brought back to Vinh Long (I assume, since I was in the hospital). It is sitting next to a Huey Boom and you have to look carefully to see the remains of a Birddog. I crashed north of Dom Tam. I know I had expended all my rockets, and I don't remember being near any buildings, but ..then again ??  I believe this picture was taken by Capt Bob Metzger, my platoon leader, or Norm Wood, and sent to me after I got back to the states. I think I was pretty lucky to come through that with my Vietnamese Observer, although I lost contact with him after a couple of letters. He described the crash and how we were shot at after we were down. Although wounded himself, I feel he save me and him from being killed or captured until we were rescued. I was out of it, which is good, because I think I would have died of fright.
